Winner's Bracket:
1st Round:
Detroit Drama vs. Sand Baggers: The games were you don't know a team are always tough to give a true prediction. I don't know anything about Sand Baggers, I will have to go with Drama on this one. Drama should be one of the top D teams this year and definitely compete in most C/D tournaments this year.
Winner: Detroit Drama
DO/Mushtube.com vs. Specialty Modifications: Another game to predict where I don't have any idea on who Specialty Modification is, but we all know who DO/Mushtube is and they look posed to make another run together as a team after a rough start of the season down in Cincy. Another D team that I believe will do very well in D and compete in many C/D tournaments on the year.
Winner: DO/Mushtube.com
Arsenal vs. Sandbaggers: Okay, two Sandbagger teams in this tournament, this could be a confusing as two Trust teams in E. Don't know much about either of these two teams, so this is basically going to be a coin flip for me.
Winner: Arsenal
2nd Round:
TG/TPS vs. Detroit Phillies: I think this game could be closer than some think, the Phillies are a scrappy bunch that the core of guys have been playing together for years. They are familiar with playing in C, even though they are a D team and have added some nice pieces over the off season. With all of that said I still believe TG finds a way to sneak out a win in this game.
Winner: TG/TPS
Apex vs. Khaos: I can definitely see this game going either way, Apex has been the best team in the last two tournaments that they have played in, adding Frank to their roster definitely helps solidify the pitching role with a good pitcher, good team mate and a solid leader. Khaos has a veteran bunch that when are on are a very tough team to beat, this team can put up runs in a bunch when they get hot.
Winner: Apex
P&P 333 vs. Detroit Drama: I expect this to be a close game through out, Drama might need to knock off some of the winter rust, but if they do that quickly I could definitely see them winning this game, but if they don't P&P will definitely be a handful for them to handle this early in the year.
Winner: P&P 333
Fire in the Hole vs. Korody: Fire in the Hole are one of those teams that I don't know anything about yet and Korody has been playing together most of the winter, getting that much needed chemistry that any good team has. If Korody plays good defense in this game they should win this game.
Winner: Korody
D-Nation vs. Mayhem: Not the best draw for D-Nation, but they are coming off a really sound tournament last weekend were they took Repomonkey to the "IF" game, the only problem is that Mayhem is not Repo, D-Nation is going to have to have more consistent hitting and pitching if they want to stay in this game.
Winner: Mayhem
DO/Mushtube.com vs. Mush Reloaded: Well the people get what the people wanted, this match up is the game most people are interesting in watching at the D level. Who would of thought that they would see each other so early in a tournament. One thing I know about Mushtube is that they will play solid defense, if they get solid pitching they will be tough to beat, If Mush Reloaded plays to the level that they are capable of they should win this game, but they can not take Mushtube lightly, because DO will be up for this game.
Winner: Mush Reloaded
Line Drive vs. Arsenal: Line Drive should be posed to have a big year this year in C, they did very well in Vegas and I am sure they are itching to get back on the field to play again. I just believe Line Drive just has too much talent for Arsenal to win this game.
Winner: Line Drive
Great Lakes Express vs. Pure Divine: Pure Divine might have a few bumps early in the year adjusting to playing in C, but I think they will get rolling when it counts. I believe this will be a tougher game for me to predict in June than right now, I like GLX experience and leadership to get them by Pure Divine.
Winner: Great Lakes Express
3rd Round:
TG/TPS vs. Apex: I think this is a tough match up for Apex, Apex will have to play a close to perfect game to be TG in this one. TG always good defensively won't give Apex too many extra outs like they have been seeing in the past couple of weeks.
Winner: TG/TPS
Korody vs. P&P 333: This should be a very good and close game, I really like the experience and some of the pick ups that P&P has made during the off season to carry them to a close win in this game.
Winner: P&P 333
Mayhem vs. Mush Reloaded: Got a few calls talking about how they can't wait to see the Mush Reloaded vs. Line Drive game, but I believe this is a going to be a very tough game for Mush Reloaded. Mayhem is a team that has been inconsistent on the year, but honestly those early tournaments really don't mean a whole lot at this point. Mush Reloaded can get inconsistent with the bat at times and if they do in this game, Mayhem will take advantage of that and win.
Winner: Mayhem
Line Drive vs. Great Lakes Express: It is going to be tough to pick against Line Drive until someone does go out and beats them. GLX has a shot, but I believe they need to jump on Line Drive early and keep that momentum going.
Winner: Line Drive
Winner Bracket Semi-Finals:
TG/TPS vs. P&P 333: This should be another real close game between two teams that will get real familiar with each other real quick on the year, this is one of those games that could be decided by who wins the coin toss before the game and gets the hammer.
Winner: TG/TPS
Line Drive vs. Mayhem: After a big win against Mush Reloaded I could see Mayhem coming out a bit flat to start the game versus Line Drive and you can't afford to do that against a team like Line Drive, Mayhem will battle but I think they will come up short in this game.
Winner: Line Drive
Winner's Bracket Finals:
TG/TPS vs. Line Drive: This is the game that was voted by the people that everyone wanted to see the most and this game actually won by a pretty big land slide on that aspect. This should be a great game to watch and TG does have the talent to compete with Line Drive all year, but I think Line Drive right now has more confidence than any C team or maybe any team in Michigan right now period and that might help them in this game, they definitely have the players who have been there before.
Winner: Line Drive
Loser's Bracket:
1st Round:
Specialty Modifications vs. Detroit Phillies: I believe Phillies will bounce back nicely in this game and gain some confidence heading into their next match up with a pretty solid victory against Specialty Modifications.
Winner: Detroit Phillies
Sandbaggers vs. Fire in the Hole: Hmm... Can't really say much on this game at all.
Winner: Fire in the Hole
Sand Baggers vs. Pure Divine: This should be a good game for Pure Divine to bounce back from and hopefully get rolling to make a nice little run in this tournament.
Winner: Pure Divine
2nd Round:
Khaos vs. Detroit Phillies: Another real good match up that could go either way, I like the fact that Phillies have one win under their belt at this point of the tournament and will be a little more loose in this game versus Khaos. This game definitely could go either way, but the slight edge goes to......
Winner: Detroit Phillies
Detroit Drama vs. Fire in the Hole: I think Drama will get their first win against a C team in this game, they should have kicked back a few cold ones by this time and that should help knock off some of that rust that they might of shown in the previous game.
Winner: Detroit Drama
D-Nation vs. DO/Mushtube.com: This game could be a lot closer than some think, D-Nation has some veteran guys on their team, who know how to win and they definitely won't be intimidated by the "DO" on the chest of the opposing team in this one. That being said, I do think Mushtube might have too much fire power for D-Nation in this game.
Winner: DO/Mushtube.com
Arsenal vs. Pure Divine: I see Pure Divine keeping on their winning ways in this game by edging out Arsenal in a high scoring game.
Winner: Pure Divine
3rd Round:
Great Lakes Express vs. Detroit Phillies: Yet another game that should be very close and could be decided in the later innings. I want to pick GLX in this one, but my gut is saying that Detroit Phillies will sneak out the win in this game.
Winner: Detroit Phillies
Mush Reloaded vs. Detroit Drama: Definitely should be an entertaining game to watch, with a lot of friendly banter from both teams, I believe Mush will have an edge about them the rest of this tournament and really get on a role from here.
Winner: Mush Reloaded
Korody vs. DO/Mushtube.com: I believe these two teams are pretty evenly matched, Korody has been playing some games already and I think they will be gelling more at this time of the season that Mushtube is right now.
Winner: Korody
Apex vs. Pure Divine: These games don't get any easier to predict, Apex might have the better defense, while Pure Divine might have the better offense, so it does make for an intriguing match up to call. I will go with the experience of Apex in a very close one over Pure Divine.
Winner: Apex
4th Round:
Mush Reloaded vs. Detroit Phillies: #1 vs. #2 in my preseason rankings facing off here in the Loser's Bracket for the first time of the year. If Mush gets a good performance from their pitching in this game, I believe they will win.
Winner: Mush Reloaded
Korody vs. Apex: Another two teams that a very similar to each other. Both teams play a lot a like and I believe they will both be over achieving teams on the year.
Winner: Korody
5th Round:
P&P 333 vs. Mush Reloaded: Expect a very good game from both teams out of this one and I could see either winning this game. Mush is going to need to jump out in front and take a lead early if they want to win this game.
Winner: P&P 333
Korody vs. Mayhem: Beginning of April Korody got the best of Mayhem at their own tournament, I think you will see a different Mayhem team in this tournament and it will show in this game versus Korody.
Winner: Mayhem
6th Round:
Mayhem vs. P&P 333: I really like the experience of P&P in this game, even though Mayhem does have experience and the core has played together for a while now, I just think P&P is posed to make a run in this tournament.
Winner: P&P 333
Loser's Bracket Finals:
P&P 333 vs. TG/TPS: It seemed like every time last year I picked TG to go deep in a tournament or win a tournament they never did, but when I didn't they would make a real nice run. Like I have said before they definitely have the talent to compete with anyone in this tournament or in C this year, we will see how long it will take for them to adjust to the new level.
Winner: P&P 333
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:
Line Drive vs. P&P 333: I could definitely see these two teams having a lot of classic match ups through out the year, with P&P winning some of those games. I just don't think this is going to be that game.
Winner: Line Drive
So, I have Line Drive winning the first big C/D tournament on the year. Remember there are some real good teams that didn't play this weekend and are playing in a very tough tournament down in Sylvania, OH. It will defintiely be interesting to see the results of those games down there as well.
There will be more predictions put up tomorrow from some of the other guys who are involved with the Big Hoss Report this year and the first Big Hoss Rankings will be out Monday after the tournament.
Everyone enjoy the rain free (hopefully) weekend at Liberty, it definitely has been a while in the making to get the regular season going. Everyone Have Fun and BE SAFE this weekend!
