Big Hoss Predicts the Early Bird (C&D)
Well, hopefully this tournament gets in, but with the call for rain most of tonight and early morning the best case scenario might be a few hour delay to start the early bird.
C Early Bird Predictions
1st Round:
Korody vs. R&L Concrete: This is a very intriguing match up, R&L is one of the top teams in C and Korody from everything I have heard has been looking good all winter in Dome and in their first tournament out in Taylor. This will be a good measuring stick for Korody to see where they are at as a team. I expect a closer game than most people are thinking. ***This would be may Game of the Week for C***

TG/TPS/Elite vs. Great Lakes Express: Another game that I believe will be closer than many think, GLX should do pretty well this year and TG knows they are going to take some lumps over the course of the year, but they are a very good team. I don't see TG out slugging many teams, but their glove will keep them in most games and I believe this will be the case for this game.
Winner: TG/TPS/Elite
Mayhem vs. Fire in the Hole: Don't know anything about Fire in the Hole, haven't heard any chatter about them either. So, it is hard to pick against them, but definitely hard to pick them when you know Mayhem and the caliber of players and team they are.
Winner: Mayhem
Pure Divine vs. Line Drive: Tough match up for Pure Divine, I notice some names from them and I think they will be fine in C, but they are definitely going to take their lumps along the way. This would be a huge upset if the beat Line Drive here, Line Drive has more talent and experience right now and I believe they will win this one.

2nd Round:
R&L vs. TG: I expect this to be another classic battle between two teams that are very familiar with each other and have had plenty of classic close games in the past. Seems like every time I pick against one of this teams to win this match up I am wrong, so I probably will continue the tradition here.
Winner: R&L
Mayhem vs. Line Drive: I think you are going to see the beginning of a nice rivalry starting between these two teams. Line Drive is the class of C, but that won't intimidate the Mayhem guys, they haven't gone into many years being many people's favorite in the class they were in, but all they have done is win. I am not sure if they will get Line Drive this time, but I am sure they will a few times over the summer.

Winner's Bracket Finals:
R&L Concrete vs. Line Drive: With it being the first predictions of the year, I am going to play these predictions pretty safe until I actually get to watch some of these teams or get some more feedback from other people. R&L will have to hit with Line Drive to beat them in this one, I do believe R&L will play good enough defense, but they are going to have to put up some runs in every inning to try to steal this game.

1st Round:
Korody vs. Great Lakes Express: This is another tough game to predict early on, especially without seeing how these teams are gelling early on in the year. I think these teams are very similar and it could go anyway, but there has to be a winner and a loser so I will go with...

Pure Divine vs. Fire in the Hole: Again for the same reason why I have Fire in the Hole losing the first game, I will be having them lose this game as well. I have seen some of the Pure Divine guys play in the past and they are definitely a scrappy bunch and will fight for 7innings.

2nd Round:
Mayhem vs. Korody: The talk of Taylor was how Korody beat Mayhem, not once, but twice in their own tournament. I am sure Mayhem is going to go out a look to even the score in this tournament and send Korody packing early. This should be a very good game, but I do believe Mayhem will pull away late.
Winner: Mayhem
TG vs. Pure Divine: TG should have a nice bounce back game here vs. Pure Divine, I really don't expect a high scoring game like you usually would see from C teams in this one, but I do think TG will win this one pretty easily, they just don't give you an extra outs and when they do you have to capitalize on it.

3rd Round:
Mayhem vs. TG: Again two teams that are very familiar with each other from last year. The top two finishing Michigan D teams in Worlds, this should be a great game and another game that could go either way. This game is a coin flip and that is how it could be decided by as well, whoever wins the Hammer could very easily win this game.

Loser's Bracket Finals:
TG vs. R&L: So they meet up again, if I was on top of my game in these predictions I would look back and see how many times these two teams played each other again after one of them knocked the other to the Loser's Bracket, but since I didn't do that I will just go with my gut and say the other team will win this one in another close tightly fought game.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:
TG vs. Line Drive: I don't see an "IF" game in this one, I think Line Drive will finish what they started and make a statement and win the Early Bird Tournament. Don't know if TG and Line Drive have played not on the year or in Dome Ball, but I am sure TG will be ready for them the next time these two square off.
D Early Bird Predictions:
1st Round:
D-Nation vs. Sandbaggers: DNation has a nice mix of guys who should be able to compete at this level, I really don't know a whole lot about Sandbaggers, but you got to love their name. I am solely picking this game just on familiarity with the players that I know on DNation.
Winner: D-Nation
Apex Softball vs. DO/Mushtube.com: This is a very interesting game, Mushtube being short handed this weekend and Apex coming off a very good tournament championship in Taylor this past weekend. Apex who has a lot of Fubar guys on their team are very familiar with the DO name playing them in league ball in Dearborn and there definitely is no love lost with them and DO. ***GAME OF WEEK IN D*** ***UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK***

Mush Reloaded vs. Arsenal: Arsenal another team I am not too familiar with right now, but it really shouldn't matter in this match up, I really think the Mush guys are going to be very excited and motivated for this tournament and I believe their play will show it.

Blue Crush vs. Khaos: This is another good match up for a 1st round match up. You have the defending E champs playing a Khaos team that is a veteran bunch that definitely know how to play the game the right way. In fact a core of this Khaos team finished 33rd in D World's this past season (Detroit Vain). This will be a very close game I believe.
Winner: Blue Crush
2nd Round:
D-Nation vs. Apex Softball: Apex can't have a let down if they get past DO in the 1st round, this is a winnable game for them if they continue to play the way that they have been playing to this point. D-Nation's key to victory in this one that they are going to have to limit the mistakes defensively, don't give Apex any extra outs, because they will capitalize on it.
Winner: Apex Softball
Mush Reloaded vs. Blue Crush: Some former D champs on Mush versus the current E champs, I am sure Blue Crush will be up to play this game and they can keep it close, but I think they will have to play close to a perfect game to beat Mush Reloaded and with it being so early in the year, that is a hard task to ask for.

Mush Reloaded vs. Apex Softball: This could be a good game, Apex usually plays fundamentally sound and won't give Mush the extra outs that some other teams might give them. I just dont know if Apex has the fire power to keep up with Mush offensively.

1st Round:
Sandbaggers vs. DO/Mushtube.com: Mushtube will have a bounce back game in this one, they have been in this situation before and have found a way to fight back and make it back to the finals. I think they will be heading in the right direction after this game. Even shorthanded Mushtube has a lot of veteran leadership that should get them through this game.
Khaos vs. Arsenal: Again not knowing who Arsenal without watching them play it is going to be tough for me to pick them to win this game versus Khaos who has a nice mixture of guys from last year Khaos team and last year's Detroit Vain's D team.

2nd Round:
Blue Crush vs. DO/Mushtube.com: I hear that Blue Crush is also going to be short handed early in the year, so this could definitely benefit Mushtube in this match. Plus I am sure the Mushtube guys will want to make a statement in this game against Blue Crush as long as Mushtube gets solid pitching from their pitchers they should win this game.

D-Nation vs. Khaos: I think this will be a very good game, D-Nation is going to have to hit with Khaos to stay in this game, when Khaos gets hot they are a tough out in any tournament they play in.

3rd Round:
Khaos vs. DO/Mushtube.com: I think this game could be closer than what most people would think it would be, but I do believe that in the end the defense of Mushtube will keep in close enough for them to win this game late.

DO/Mushtube.com vs. Apex: DO will get their chance to avenge their early loss to Apex in this one and I think they will bounce back and get the win in a closely heated game. When Mushtube gets rolling they are tough to beat.

DO/Mushtube.com vs. Mush Reloaded/Sinister: Last year I predicted some DO vs. DO finals, well this year in the first predictions of the year I am going to predict a Mush vs. Mush finals. These to teams will definitely face each other their fair share of times through out the summer, but I think Mushtube will be more opt to beat them in the middle of the year rather than early in the year.

Well, that is it for my first predictions on the year. Definitely forgot how long these took and these were only 8 team tournaments, but definitely good practice for getting into the season. You will see more predictions and rankings from others as the season goes on, so the softball community will have a few different people's perspective on where the teams stack up.
